Africa Trip

In August, we sent two Jacobs to Africa! Pastor Jacob Baker, our Missionary in Residence and Jacob Roberson, a seminary student, traveled to Burundi to teach on the attributes of God and preach in revival services in two different refugee camps. But God’s ways are often not our ways as all the plans were turned on their heads due to the pandemic. For a full video report of the trip, visit our website, www.becomingmature.org

This year, Pastor Jacob wrote and printed up booklets, “The Attributes of God” in French and Swahili to give the men to use during the training.

While in Bujumbura, Pastor Jacob had an opportunity to sit down in an interview with Bishop Floribert (Flory) Kazingufu, the president of REMIC and close friend to all at Becoming Mature. We hope to post that interview soon on our website.

Our men were also able to sit down with the leadership to discuss what’s been accomplished over the past year and what they would like to do in the coming year.

One vital piece of information we wished to gather was the number of churches currently involved in REMIC, and their locations. It was stunning to find out that their Christian organization has:

  •   20 churches and 9 cell churches in DR Congo

  •   10 churches and 3 cell churches in Burundi

  •   2 cell churches in Rwanda

  •   1 church and 2 cell churches in Tanzania

  •   1 church and 3 cell churches in Uganda

  •   *a cell church is a group of believers that are meeting, but do not have a Pastor.

Project goals for 2021

  •   Purchase properties for 5 churches to be built – purchased land for church in Ruyigi, Burundi

  •   Purchase iron sheets for 5 churches – focus was changed to completing churches in Sange and Lemera in

DR Congo – foundation and walls are completed. Doors and a roof to be completed as soon as possible.

  •   Cover rent for some of the newer churches – working on that

  •   Financially support REMIC’s president, Floribert Kazingufu – we are sending funds on a bi-monthly basis
